Malay, a first-class Municipality is the tourism capital of the Province of Aklan. Located at the northwestern tip of Panay Island, it is bounded on the north by Sibuyan and Sulu Seas, on the east by the Municipality of Nabas, on the west by the Municipality of Buruanga and on the south by the Province of Antique. Having a total land area of 6,731 hectares, it is politically divided into 17 barangays.


Malay, Aklan - the San Miguel Foundation, Inc turned over its projects to the Local Government Unit of Malay on October 24, 2018. As a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, the San Miguel Foundation donated Birthing Clinic with equipment, a Day Care Center, and Improvement of the community’s Water System.


To address health and sanitation, and uphold the education of indigenous children, the Local Government Unit of Malay through Mayor Ceciron Cawaling chose the Ati Village at Sitio Carla, Barangay Cubay Sur, Malay, Aklan as the beneficiary of these projects.


It was May of this year when the construction of these projects started. 


The turn-over started with a mass, then proceeded with the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Afterwards, the buildings were blessed by the priest.


Mayor Ceciron S. Cawaling expressed his appreciation through a message saying that the projects will greatly uplift the health and sanitation of the indigenous village.


The Ati community prepared an indigenous performance as way of thanking the representatives of the Foundation.


The chairman of Malaynon Ati Tribal Association (MATA) Mr. Ernesto Coching accepted the projects and committed for its sustainability.

The turn-over was participated by Mr. Cezar Chiong of GM Jethandlers Asia Services, Inc, Ms. Lydia Ragasa, Ms. Kin Lichaoco, of San Miguel Foundation, and Ms. Cecille Ang. They were received by Municipal Officials Mayor Ceciron Cawaling, Dra. Maria Ney Mucho of Municipal Health Office, Ms. Magdalena Prado of Municipal Social Welfare and Development, Mr. Hermenegildo Javier, Jr. the Municipal Accountant, Ms. Dediosa Dioso the Municipal Treasurer, and Ms. Alma Belejerdo, the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator; along with Hon. Rene Casidsid, Punong Barangay of Cubay Sur.
